About Us
Alpacas on the hill, situated on 10 acres located in Red hill south, “the heart” of the Mornington peninsula, only 60 minuets from Melbourne.
We Bought our property along with the 30 alpacas in November 2014, since then we learned everything we can about alpacas
John was only 11 years old when we purchased the family farm and bonded to the alpacas instantly. By July 2015 John purchased his first AAA registered alpaca, a pregnant female. Since then John has gone on to have a full herd of AAA registered, quality alpacas. We hold a herd of 25-35 huacayas focusing on colour!
Our breeding program prioritises the “paddock to product” focus, this being all fleeces coming off our alpacas are used to be made into product. Whether that be for yarn, felting, weaving, knitting ect. We even use the “off-cuts” as dog bed stuffing, we don’t let anything go to waste!
We concentrate on a tall, solid framed body matched with a well constructed head and an upright, standout presence. We aim to get a fine fleece that is long, dense and consistent throughout.
We love all the colours alpacas produce but we especially love the greys and blacks which have become our focus!
We look forward to seeing how our program improves
